God is Love
I John 4:8
First of all, do you, mom or dad, or one of you, go to church? Why? What are your motivations?
Our children will absorb our habits. They will see our commitment or our dissatisfaction with the church.
But why the church? What is the Church? It’s more than a religion, a habit or a series of rituals, the Church is made up of people from all tribes and tongues who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour. So they have become disciples of Jesus, wanting to do the will of God by the help of the Holy Spirit.
We can read in the Bible, Acts 2:47 “…and the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved”
The first church is of course the family but the child, as does the adult, needs to be involved in a wider community, sharing the same convictions and same aims in life.
If one or both parents are active in this Christian community, leaning on the teaching of the Bible, then the child may also develop friendships with other children from families that also participate in the life of the church.
Children will learn to share and to put into practice these Christian values from their childhood and in this way build their identity based on their stage of growth and maturity.
Parents will also truly pass on to their children values that are fundamental to their life.
